The vedrict’s in – Biden picks Kamala Harris as running mate

California senator first black woman to run for Vice President

San Francisco,
August 11, 2020

In a much-anticipated move, Vice President Joe Biden chose Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate in his 2020 bid for the U.S. Presidency.

Despite massive amounts of speculation, it was long known that the presumptive democratic nominee would chose a woman to be Vice President on his ticket, and well assumed he would choose woman of color. Harris will become the first African American woman to run for vice president and just the third female to appear on a presidential ticket.

Before becoming just the third female U.S. senator from California, Harris served as San Francisco’s DA from 2004-2011 and then California’s Attorney General from 2011-2017.

Previously a presidential candidate, Harris exchanged some sharp words with Biden during debates as the two ran against each other. Harris dropped out of the race last December citing a lack of funding.

Harris will appear alongside Biden in a formal joint announcement tomorrow.
