Spring Training in full swing
March 3, 2015
The World Champion San Francisco Giants returned to the field February 24 as full squad reported for Spring Training duties in Scottsdale, Ariz. Today, baseball begins in earnest.
The Giants will play their cross Bay rivals the Oakland A’s in the first Spring Training game of 2015. World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner will take the ball for San Francisco. Although the games don’t officially count, it’s the first time players will take the field in game atmospheres to prepare for the regular season, which begins in April.
While many question marks remain for the reigning World Series champs – mostly surrounding health – confidence and spirits always run high at the start of a fresh season. Fans wonder – can centerfielder Angel Pagan stay healthy an entire season? Will stud pitcher Matt Cain return to form after multiple surgeries? Will Cy-Young Award Winner Tim Lincecum find his ‘big stuff’ again?
Despite, spring has sprung in the baseball world and all is good and right in the players’ eyes. Hey, this is the team that won three championships in five seasons – against the odds.
